Hi Everyone! Its time for me to start blogging again! Now that my studio has officially been open for a little over a year, I am finally getting the hang of things around here. Naturally, I continue to learn, grow, change and challenge myself on a daily basis. They say that the first year is the hardest and I hope that's true because it definitely has been full trials and tribulations, but also full of reward, joy and happiness. One thing is for sure; it certainly doesn't happen over night. In this past year, I have met and worked with some amazing people and participated in events that I never imagined I would just a year ago. I can only hope that this continues. And while I still have far to go, I can also look back confidently and know how far I've come. Not only in the last year but in the past 7 years of designing and making jewelry. As I look back at some of my past designs I can't believe that that was me! Some of it I prefer to forget, others I had completely forgotten about and find valuable elements in the work, some of which I may revisit in the future. For now this first post is to announce that I will be trying to actively blog again, time permitting. My intention is to share my personal experience of being an independent artist in Florence as well as the day to day joys and challenges that come with running my own studio and making a living from my work. I am lucky that I have had the opportunity to follow my dream but I think it is important not to romanticize the idea that its easy and wonderful all the time. So I pledge to be real and honest here. I will also, of course keep you all updated on the regular happenings in the studio and those in Florence that I think are great! So with that A presto!
